2021 GreenCard Application Timeline

*Scroll down to see my application timeline*

I came in to the US on Feb 22nd 2019 with B1/B2 Visa, intended to stay in Seattle with my boyfriend at the time, husband now for 6 months before I leave for my master in France.
I was taken to the “room" and was interrogated for 2 hours.
They reduced my staying time from 6 months to 4. We were scared to be separated so we decided to get married. Our wedding was on June 1st 2019.

I am Taiwanese and my husband is an American citizen.
After consulting with a lawyer, We decided that we can save the $4000 by filing ourselves. The Lawyer we talked to is really friendly and kind. He was so generous to give us consultation and advise. I would recommend him to you if you need an attorney: https://www.choquettelaw.com/

It took us about 10 days to prepare all the documents. I recommend going through the checklist twice and make a copy of the original so you remember what you wrote. I sent out my application on June 12, 2019 .

The past 2 years could feel like hell from time to time but in the end it is all worth the wait!
Since we have been married for 2 years at the time of our interview, my permanent card was issued for 10 years.

I’ve tried writing letters to congressman and president, both were semi helpful? They were able to help me with EAD and AP but for the green card, I just needed to wait it out.

Interview questions:
She went through eligibility questions first before getting into interview questions.
Eligibility questions were what is already on the form that we submitted.
Tell me your stories, how you met and how you guys ended up together?

That was pretty much the only question that she asked. We have know each other since 2014 and have been in the relationship since 2015 and married since 2019. I guess our marriage seems pretty legit for her?

Anyway, for all of you who are in the immigration process, I know the wait could be difficult and sometimes you feel hopeless, just try to find little things to appreciate and stay thankful for what you already have. In the end, we will all be ok. 🙂

Wish you all Luck!!! Let me know if you have any question.
